D-SLR And Zoom
Pentax’s new D-SLR, the *ist DS, offers 6-megapixel resolution in a lightweight, compact body. According to Pentax, the new camera boasts a high-magnification viewfinder rivaling those in 35mm cameras, making both composition and focus confirmation easier. Pentax’s DA Zoom 18-55mm lens is designed to operate with Pentax D-SLRs, providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of about 28-85mm with the D-SLRs’ 1.5x magnification factor. Aspheric lens elements control distortion and aberrations while contributing to a more compact design. Estimated Street Price: $899 (body only); $999 (body and lens).
