7 New Black-and-White control helps you take advantage of today’s great printers.
Under Image Adjustments is a new Black-and-White adjustment. Not only can you adjust all the channels individually, but you have built-in and custom filters at your fingertips. You also can tint your images. Love it!

Photoshop CS3Photoshop CS38 New Smart Filters let you change your mind. “What are Smart Filters?” you ask. Well, now you can apply a filter and work with it just as you do with an adjustment layer and layer mask! You can “paint in” and “paint out” a filter effect. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for that technique? You use Smart Filters by first going to Filter > Convert and then choosing the filter you want to apply selectively to your file. For example, in this image, I only wanted to sharpen the subject and not the background, so I applied Unsharp Mask only to the subject.

Photoshop CS3Photoshop CS39 CS3 can make you a better image-maker! All the new and improved features in CS3 can, I believe, make you a better photographer and image-maker. It’s up to you to take advantage of all the cool tools and features in CS3. (For this Photoshop fix, I used Levels, Shadow/Highlight and Edit > Transform > Distort to correct the “leaning over backward” effect on the teacher caused by photographing the subject from a close distance with a wide-angle lens.)
