The A100 is a compact digital SLR that shows its lineage back to the Konica Minolta digital SLRs—its Sony mount is based on the Minolta Maxxum lens mount. Sony has re-engineered many Minolta lenses and created new lenses of its own so that the camera is complemented by an impressive system of 19 lenses. In addition, a series of high-quality Carl Zeiss lenses will be offered later this year.
